Commodity File Collection

The Commodity File Collection (or 'Commodity Files') contains historical Queensland Government records pertaining to the State's resource potential and economic development.

The documents presented in this collection elaborate upon the geoscientific activities undertaken by Departmental officers in relation to understanding Queensland's natural endowment, land use, and the evolving development of its resource sector.

These records contain a myriad of information across a broad spectrum of data types. They include, although not strictly limited to:

  • Professional and personal correspondence;

  • Geoscientific observations and interpretations;

  • Sampling results;

    • Field sampling and observations;
    • Laboratory results;
    • Drilling results;
  • Notes on commodity occurrences;

  • Field campaign information;

  • Maps, tables, diagrams and illustrations.

The collection, as presented below, is collated by commodity type where possible. Where multiple documents pertain to a single commodity, these are packaged together and provided as a ZIP file.

The collection is presented as scanned from the original documentation and is reflective of the best available condition of the source material.
